How it works

  1. Write up to 150 words on where you would go in Italy, what you would do, and what the trip would mean to you.
  2. Our judges read every entry and choose the one that is most original and inspiring. This is a competition of skill, not a draw.
  3. We contact the winner by email and help them book their travel dates.

Travels of Italy is building a community of people who love Italy. Your ideas help shape the trips and travel offers we share. If you opt in, we will send you those offers. If you don't, we will only contact you about this competition.

  1. Promoter. The competition is run by Travels of Italy, Via Risorgimento, 11, 53040 Cetona SI, Italy (the Promoter).
  2. Competition period. Entries open on 1 October 2026 and close at 11:59pm Australian Western Standard Time (UTC+8) on 31 December 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.
  3. Eligibility. Open to individuals aged 18 or older, or the age of majority in their country of residence if that is higher. Open to residents of all countries except Italy, Brazil, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, the province of Quebec (Canada), and Crimea and other Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of the Promoter, the judges, and their immediate families are not eligible.
  4. How to enter. Complete the entry form with your name, email, country of residence, and a written answer of 5 to 150 words to the question shown. One entry per person. Entries must be in English, must be the entrant's own original work, and must not be offensive, defamatory, or infringe anyone else's rights. The Promoter may disqualify any entry that breaks these terms.
  5. Game of skill. This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in selecting the winner. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and how well they convey what the trip would mean to the entrant. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. Winner. One winner will be selected within 21 days after the competition closes and notified by email within 7 days of selection. The winner must respond within 14 days and provide proof of identity, age, and residence. If they do not, or are ineligible, the prize will be awarded to the next best entry. The winner's first name and country will be published on this website.
  7. Prize. One trip for one person, comprising: return economy class flights from the major international airport nearest the winner's place of residence (as selected by the Promoter) to Italy; 7 nights' accommodation near Florence; and spending money equal to USD 2,000 less the cost of the flights. The combined value of the flights and spending money is USD 2,000, and the accommodation is provided in addition to this amount. The spending money amount therefore varies with the departure point. If the flights cost USD 2,000 or more, no spending money is provided.
  8. Travel conditions. Travel must be completed by 31 May 2027, subject to availability. The winner is responsible for a valid passport, any visas, travel insurance, airport transfers, and all costs not listed in the prize, and for meeting Italy's entry requirements. If the winner cannot travel within the travel period, the prize is forfeited.
  9. Prize changes. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. If any part of the prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter may substitute an item of equal or greater value.
  10. Tax. The winner is responsible for any tax payable on the prize in their country of residence.
  11. Use of entries. Entrants keep ownership of their entries. By entering, you grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, edit, and publish your entry, with your first name and country, for promotional purposes.
  12. Privacy. Personal information is collected to run this competition. If you opt in, it will also be used to send you Italy travel ideas and offers, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Your information will not be sold. It may be stored or processed outside your country, including in Australia and the United States. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information under applicable law, including the GDPR, by writing to the Promoter at the address above.
  13. Liability. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage arising from this competition or the prize, except for liability that cannot be excluded by law.
  14. Changes to the competition. If the competition cannot run as planned for reasons beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter may amend, suspend, or cancel it, subject to applicable law.
  15. Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
